Walt Disney Quotes

This Walt Disney quotes page is dedicated to Mr. Walt Disney, a dreamer who showed us all dreams do come true...

Short Biography Of Walt Disney

Early Life

  • Walter Elias Disney was the 4th son of Elias and Flora Call Disney.
  • Walt was the 4th youngest child of 5 children. The others (in order of oldest to youngest) were Herbert, Raymond, Roy, and Ruth.
  • Walt was interested in art from a very young age, and would sell his drawings to neighbors for extra money.
  • Walt Disney's father did not make a handsome living, so Walt never had a silver spoon in his mouth.
  • Elias would often beat Walt (as well as his brother Roy) with a switch or a belt in the woodshed on a daily basis as a way to motivate the boys to do more on the farm and "correct" bad behavior.

Public Persona

  • In some sense, Walt Disney and his company manufactured the idea that Walt was a kind man who was very happy.
  • Walt himself said, "I don't have depressed moods. I'm happy, just very, very happy."1

Quote from Walt Disney: "If you can dream it, you can do it."

December 5, 1901 - December 15, 1966

Interesting facts about Walt...

  • Walt Disney was reputed to have a suspicious and controlling nature at times. He was not always a cheerful, happy go-lucky kind of guy, although the Walt Disney Company and Walt himself were only too happy to let the public think so.
  • It's not hard to imagine some of the unhappy aspects of his personality came from the way his father treated him. Today we might even call it child abuse.
  • But Walt was driven to achieve, and you're probably living in a bubble if you haven't heard of the Disney brand, a testament to his vision and success.
  • Disneyland is so famous that Presidents, kings, and queens from around the world have visited Disneyland.
