Poem I wrote on behalf of my daughter

by Sarah Sutherland

You only hit me once but I feel so sad, you never acted like a dad. At 2 weeks old I'm as defenseless as they come.
Haven't yet learned the ability to suck my thumb.
What did I do to Deserve such pain, what is it that you expected to gain?

Broken clavicle and bruising to the face, yet you continued to cover up this disgrace.
Mommy had no clue, no idea of what to do when Dcf came to protect me from you, you thought you were clever you thought you were smart but you couldn't lie on the polygraph chart.

Mommy did no wrong, she loved me from the start, yet you put her through this too, breaking her heart. we all know the truth that you did it for sure, mommy's love for me is the only cure.

I'm a happy, healthy baby, with a face like an angel, I won't remember this case from any angle. Mommy speaks on my behalf. She carries my pain and now its time for justice to reign.
